What is CT sensors
AC Current Sensor 30A Clamp Current transformers (CTs) are sensors that are used for measuring alternating current. They are particularly useful for measuring whole building electricity consumption (or generation for that matter).
The split core type such as the CT in the picture above, is particularly suitable for DIY use it can be clipped straight on to either the live or neutral wire coming into the building without having to do any high voltage electrical work.
This is an AC current measuring sensor featuring CT technology, CT stands for current transformer, a transformer unit split in two half like a clamp for measuring alternating current source.
Non-invasive AC Current Sensor can measure a load up to 30 Amps AC source, simply clamp the current sensor on the live wire or neutral wire. The sensor measure the amount of current flowing through the wire. The output is a small AC signal which can be further use for energy meter application or for over-current protection of AC devices. To facilitate the application need the sensor has 3.5mm jack on the output side.
Applications
- Suitable for the current measuring
- Monitoring and protection of AC motor
